Advancements in observation and modeling should ultimately benefit society in the form of information services that contribute to decision making on safe and sustainable economic and civic activities and developments. The work of the PPP’s Societal and Economic Research and Applications (SERA) task team has been focused on understanding how weather, water, ice and climate information and forecasts are accessed, understood and utilized by a wide range of actors in the polar regions. At the YOPP Final Summit the key results of the PPP-SERA task team will be illustrated in a keynote speech by Dr. Jackie Dawson, founding and former co-chair of PPP-SERA. In addition, there will be a dedicated programme in which both researchers and stakeholders will present on the experiences and the value of enhanced services.
